DeutschDoors open for a day at the base of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team
Cagliari, 7 December 2019 - Enthusiasm and surprise contributed to the success of this first Open Day at the Molo Ichnusa base.
On November 19th at 5 pm the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team published its online form to register for the first Open Day event in its new Molo Ichnusa base. In less than 4 hours over 800 people registered, with an almost immediate sold-out.
The tour was defined by many as "a real adventure in discovering the places where, in secret, the team members design, build and assemble the new AC75 Luna Rossa ". The participants were also able to engage in activities to test their trimmer, grinder, rigger and helmsman skills. Many key people of this challenge were available to meet and greet guests, from the designers to the sailors of the caliber of Spithill, Vascotto and Sibello, up to the younger sailors. Max Sirena commented, greeting one of the visiting groups: "We are delighted to welcome visitors to our world and perhaps inspire new generations to get closer to the sea and the sport of sailing."
In addition to this unique glimpse in the world of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team, participants had the opportunity to learn of the actions adopted daily by the team in terms of environmental sustainability. In support of One Ocean Foundation (OOF) – an organization dedicated to the preservation of marine environments - Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli actively supports activities to protect the sea with a commitment to promote the preservation of marine ecosystems and the culture of sustainability. On this occasion, the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team advocated, with the help of training videos, the points of the Charta Smeralda: an innovative ethical code accessible to everyone through the web site www.1ocean.org. Like the Ambassador OOF Max Sirena, anyone can sign it and commit to observing a shared code of conduct for the protection of the seas.
A sincere thank you goes to the local authorities who contribute and support the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team in its preparation for the challenge to the 36th America’s Cup.
